I'm Kate, the human behind Due North Handmade. I'm an engineer-turned-quilter and designer with a passion for blending creativity and precision. I call the Midwestern United States home, where I live with my family and our dogs.

When I’m not in my studio, you’ll find me enjoying board games with my family, running, or discovering new flavors in the kitchen. Quilting and pattern design allow me to strike the perfect balance between art and logic, a combination that speaks to both the engineer and maker in me.

I've been designing patterns since 2022. I focus on traditional methods, but brought up to date for your contemporary lifestyle. All my patterns are revied by a tech editor and fully tested so you can be confident when you use my designs.
